The certificate module was easy to install and added a great function to courses - the ability automatically issue a PDF certificate to students. This function can occur based on completion of certain tasks or completion of the course. This, of course, is based on grade in the gradebook and the module when added to a course asks you in it's settings what the pre-requisites should be.

This is a stable module that would provide a nice feature to most Moodle sites.
