The following notes were taken at the Sydney Moodle User Group 9 event at Roseville College.
Roseville College and Renate McKenzie (Director of ICT) hosted the 9th Sydney Moodle User Group and although we didn't have a large number of people in attendance we were all appreciative of the case study provided by Renate in their amazing lecture theatre.
Some of the points made during Renate's presentation included:
- Rollover of courses each year is left for teachers to handle
- 1:2 computer access in years 5 & 6
- Experimented with LAMS
- Most ICT services available from outside school except files
- Running Moodle 1.7 on Fedora 3 server
- Linked into Maze/iWise school database system
- Courses setup in Moodle based on timetable
- Moodle is not compulsory for teachers
- Certain teachers are enthusiastic and maintain courses quite well
- Moodle used as Document Management System for older students
- Moodle is homepage for all computers in school
- Don't use the calendar function in Moodle
- News broadcast to student eg. Gmail rollout
- RoseNet is name of Moodle installation
- Used for language education
- All My Own Work using Moodle as well
- Roseville has had Moodle for 3 years
- One and a half laptop labs being added - moving to more laptops from digital education revolution budget
